Possibly the easiest zipper pouch you will ever make. Perfect for beginners, there are no fiddly zipper tabs to worry about with the 'Take Note' pouch. The instructions include lots of easy to follow steps accompanied by clear step by step pictures.

At 23cm x 10cm (9" x 4") with a wider base, it is perfect for pencils, brushes and even crochet hooks.

The pattern uses very minimal fabric for the outer so is perfect for using up those smaller offcuts you've been saving.

I would recommend something such as linen or cotton for the outer main section to ensure you get those perfect corners unless you are a whizz with cork. The top contrast band lends itself well to cork, vinyl or fabric. The lining itself is just one piece and best used with non-directional fabric. And that's it, just 4 pieces to make your very own 'Take Note' zipper pouch.

Fun pouch to make

Quick project and nice size. Enjoyed learning a new technique for inserting the zipper. I'll remember this technique and use in other pouch projects when possible.

Cute pouch

The free pattern was easy to follow and made a cute pouch. It’s a nice shape and size for a pencil case or for crochet hooks. I didn’t look at the video so can’t comment on that. The main feature is the alternative method of inserting the zip, which is done as a letterbox construction like you might do on the front of a bag. This means that you don’t need to worry about zip tabs and the zip does sit nicely. It is straightforward but to be honest I am not keen on the exposed zip ends/edges that it leaves, I know you can’t see them from the outside, but I know they’re there and I do wonder whether in time they will fray, even with fray check. I think if I make the pouch again I will add some ends to the zip before inserting it or tweak the pattern to enclose the zip.

Take note pouch

It was a good sew. The video was very helpful. I used cotton fabric, didn’t have vinyl, but am planning on making it again.
