This is a sewing pattern for The Marsham Messenger Bag, inspired by the 1940s ‘make-do-and-mend’ era. This strikingly simple messenger bag is pieced together with three contrasting fabrics to give a homespun look with infinite possibilities. The Marsham Messenger Bag pattern also includes instructions for adding an interior patch pocket, using the flap template. This PDF has 17 pages—10 pages including the cover, general, cutting out and step-by-step instructions, and 7 pattern sheets with the templates, which you must print and cut out. All of the templates are actual size and all seam allowances already added. As three of the templates are too big to fit on one sheet, you must cut out and tape these templates together where shown. Instructions for this are clear. Marsham Messenger Bag

Made this out of fabric scraps the houndstooth from a coat and the red and charcoal were left overs from corduroy trousers I had made. The pattern pieces fitted well together and instructions easy to follow. Really liked the result. Will definitely be making another in blue tones. Highly recommend this pattern

Perfect gift size

Pattern pieces fit flawlessly together! Made mine about 10% smaller than pattern, as it became the perfect size for a holiday purse. Used faux leather on front 2 bottom pieces and fabric on the remainder. Went together like a charm. I made 25 purses to give out as holiday gifts for healthcare workers and a couple of our favorite servers. This pattern is my new "go to" pattern for quick gifts.
