This is a PDF sewing pattern for the Edwardstone Mini Messenger Bag. A neat and sleek, handy sized cross-body bag with vintage flair but thoroughly practical for modern living, the Edwardstone Mini Messenger Bag is made with flat construction so it lays flat against the body, and features pleat detailing and an asymmetrical flap. Named after the Suffolk village close to where my father was born, this bag can be made all in one fabric or pieced from two or three contrasting fabrics. The strap is made from webbing and is adjustable. The pattern also has a template and instructions for an interior zippered pocket.
For the Edwardstone Mini Messenger Bag, there are 17 pages —11 pages including the cover, general, cutting out and step-by-step instructions, and 6 pattern sheets with the templates, which you must print and cut out. All templates are actual size. Please note that all seam allowances are already added and are ½” (12mm) unless otherwise stated.
Two of the templates are too big to fit on one page and therefore must be cut out and joined together with tape at the dashed lines, matching numbers where indicated. Lay pieces next to each other without overlapping. Instructions for joining templates are clear.
Approximate finished dimensions: Height 8½” (22cm), Width 10½” (26cm), Long strap length made from quantities suggested, including tabs, is 45” (115cm)

The quantities below are for a bag made entirely in one fabric with a webbing strap. You will have to adjust the quantities if you wish to use more than one contrasting fabric.
22” x 28” (56 x 72cm), OR 12” (32cm) of 58” (148cm) width, OR ½ yard (50cm) of 44” (112cm) width exterior fabric
22” x 16” (56 x 42cm) of lining fabric for bag lining, and one interior pocket
22” x 28” (56 x 72cm) of firm weight fusible interfacing
24 x 12” (62 x 30cm) of fleece stabiliser
1 magnetic snap set
120” (305cm) of 1” (25mm) width webbing for strap
2 x 1” (25mm) rings to attach strap to bag
1 x 1” (25mm) adjustable slider to match rings
2 or 3 buttons approx. 20mm diameter for flap
6” (15cm) zipper for interior pocket
