This is a PDF sewing pattern for the Colne Valley Bag, a substantial style, inspired by retro travel bags. Large enough to house all of your essentials but neat enough for everyday use, Colne Valley features a contrasting lower section, double straps (handmade or purchased), interior patch pocket and interior zipper pocket. This style makes up well in everything from woolen tweeds, flannel or coating weight fabric to decorator weight fabrics. Colne Valley is named after the heritage steam railway on the Suffolk/Essex border close to where I grew up.

This PDF has 25 pages—14 pages including the cover, general, cutting out and step-by-step instructions with diagrams, and 11 pattern sheets with the templates, which you must print and cut out. All templates are actual size and all seam allowances are included which are ½” (12mm) unless otherwise stated.
Three of the templates are too big to fit on one page and therefore must be cut out and joined together with tape at the dashed lines, matching the numbers where indicated. Instructions for this are clear.

The Colne Valley Bag’s approximate finished dimensions are:
Height 13” (33cm), width at widest point 19” (48cm), base width 5” (12.5cm), length of straps approx. 39” (100cm)
